Hi Coaches, Hope you had a great holiday. We are trying to start a golf team in Toronto! We have a possible venue in Scarborough and are just confirming possible days and times. However, we may gear it to who is interested and what nights they are free. This would start soon. If you could get a feel for any athletes that might be interested and can get to the Scarboro area for lessons, that would be a great help. If you could ask them what nights best suit them as well. we know a lot of athletes are interested in golf . Thank you very much for your help! We would love to get golf going and eventually expand it to other parts of the GTA. Happy New Year. |

Tuesday, 22 September 2009The Toronto Downtown Sports Club is a multi-sport program which lets athletes of different levels of ability play sports in a fun environment and develop their skills. The Club is multi-sport, multi-age, co-ed, and at a multi-skill level. They are open year-round, from 7pm to 8:30pm, Tuesday nights at S.H Armstrong Community Rec Centre (56 Woodfield Road at Queen St E & Greenwood). The Club needs volunteers to help coach the athletes. Ideally, the volunteer is someone who has a lot of experience working with very low performance special athletes as there are about 6 members now that need a lot of one-on-one attention and are still working on basic motor skills. If you are interested, please contact Pratima Bhatt at (416) 447-8326 x232 or email atpratimab@specialolympicsontario.com |

Tuesday, 06 October 2009Special Olympics Toronto is always looking for athletes to join our sports clubs and programs. Children and adults with intellectual disabilities, who participate in Special Olympics exhibit boundless courage and enthusiasm, enjoy the rewards of friendship and ultimately discover not only new abilities and talents but "their voices" as well. S.O.T. has many volunteers and coaches ready to help show that people with intellectual disabilities can, with proper instruction and encouragement, learn, enjoy and benefit from participation in individual and team sports. As a result, Special Olympics athletes become fulfilled and productive members of their families and the communities in which they live.
Contact us if you wish to become an athlete or if you know someone who would enjoy the benefits of participating in the Special Olympics. Click on 'Athletes' at the top of the web page for more details!
